Coronet

The flowers of this group have a distinctive shape. The petals of this tulip are slightly compressed laterally, creating a spout at the tip of the petal. This makes the flower look like a crown, hence the name of this group of tulips is Coronet. The first Coronet tulip, 'Picture', was registered with the KAVB (Koninklijke Algemeene Vereeniging voor Bloembollencultuur) in 1949 for G. Baltus and assigned to the Single Late group. KAVB is the trade association of the flower bulb industry, founded in 1860. Meanwhile, there are more varieties and it was decided to give this tulip its own group since 2020: the Coronet group. Some varieties: 'Red Dress' (red), 'Yellow Crown' (yellow), 'White Liberstar' (white). The Coronet is also very suitable as a cut flower due to its nice sturdy stems.
