The single late tulip used to be called Cottage tulip or French tulip. Cottage tulip was a collective name for all valuable older species. These tulips can reach a decent length. In 1891 it was also the first result of attempts to grow a black tulip. La Tulipe Noir was the first in 1891. In 1944 the famous Queen of Night followed.
