single late

The single late tulip used to be called Cottage tulip or French tulip. Cottage tulip was a collective name for all valuable older species. These tulips can reach a decent length. In 1891 it was also the first result of attempts to grow a black tulip. La Tulipe Noir was the first in 1891. In 1944 the famous Queen of Night followed. This is the darkest tulip so far that has arisen from various crosses. A nice tip is to combine late tulips in a spacious pot with an early flowering species. As soon as the early flowering species has finished flowering, this late variety will bloom so that you can enjoy this pot of tulips all spring.
